MY ESSENTIAL EVERY DAY PRODUCTS

So I figured I would make a post about my every day makeup products since I do get that question a lot on Tumblr!

As far as makeup goes, I use a LOT every day. Even for when I just put on "work appropriate makeup". First and foremost, a solid, full coverage, foundation is a MUST for me. When I have the extra money I like to splurge on Tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage foundation. My shade is light. It's about $40 after tax and I purchase it at Sephora! This foundation is amazing because although it's full coverage, it isn't cakey or even NOTICEABLE that you're wearing foundation! It's also fantastic for "problem" and acne prone skin because it's ingredients are natural based, and made with the intention to repair the skin! It goes on fantastically smooth, it's easily blendable, and really stays on ALL day. In my opinion, it's definitely worth the splurge!

If you're looking for a less expensive full coverage foundation, I swear by Revlon Colorstay Foundation. It's about $10 and I purchase mine at Walmart! I love Revlon products, and this is definitely included in that. It glides on and is super buildable, yet light on the skin. I have extremely red skin, and this manages to cover it with ease. Looks fantastic when powdered, for a super matte finish. Stays on all day and doesn't bunch up around the t-zone. Awesome for long wear!

Another group of products I love for every day use, are the Sephora brand mascaras! I'm VERY picky with mascara, but I got a Sephora mascara as a Christmas present one year and I've been in love since. A little more expensive than drugstore, but certainly less than MAC or other high end mascaras, and it does the same job! I have super short, straight lashes, and these mascaras define EACH and EVERY lash for a fuller effect! Love love love. :)

Another product that I use absolutely EVERY day is my ELF eyebrow kit! It's only $3 at Walmart! Now I have no eyebrows, I shave mine off! (eek I know, I sound like a nutter. But my natural eyebrow shape is heinous!) I have a little bit of eyebrow at the front, and the rest I draw on completely. This product helps me seamlessly draw my natural brow to my "fake" brow, so much, that no one expects I even have fake brows! This kit comes in 3 different shades and is easy to apply with their cute little brush included in the kit. It stays on well and this little package lasts me MONTHS!

My number one makeup necessity will forever and always be the HD Translucent powder by Makeup Forever. I can not rant and rave about this enough, you guys!!! I am urging each and every single one of you reading this, GO BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

This product has been my FAVORITE makeup product for years now, ever since I have discovered this, I simply can't be satisfied with anything else!! Now **don't confuse this with their pressed powder**. I recently purchased their new pressed powder and I am NOT impressed!! I find this loose formula INCREDIBLE. It lays over ANY foundation and instantly gives the face a PERFECT matte complexion. It doesn't dull your skin color either. This matches ANY skin tone, so there's no struggle on finding your perfect powder, this powder works for anyone!! It keeps me feeling fresh faced ALL day. I get oily around my t-zone and this COMPLETELY prevents that!! Love this product and I will repurchase this for the rest of my life!!

Another staple for me is my Naked Palettes from Urban Decay! I own both the 2nd and 3rd palettes and I find them completely different, yet both really useful! The 2nd palette is a darker set of tones perfect for smokey golden eyes, and the 3rd palette is a beautiful Rose Gold collection. With the set of ALL of these colors, theres nothing you don't have, and nothing you can't do. Smokey eye, neutral eye, all matte eye, all shimmer eye. It's just a great set of eyeshadows to own! Both are individually 55$ in Sephora and worth the splurge!!

My last makeup essential is Vanilla Pigment from MAC! It's about 20$ in MAC stores and online. First off, this product is useful in a trillion different ways. And let me tell YOU, I am a girl who loves a multifaceted product! This is such a versatile color and product. This is a white based powder, with BEAUTIFUL gold reflect. Perfect for a lid color, or a tear duct/inner corner highlight. If you're one who likes to highlight your brow with shimmer, THIS is your color! This is also fantastic as a cheek highlight over some blush! The color payoff is INTENSE and this stays on all day for me!

Looking into making my next post all about my hair, hair care, and hair dying process! Talk to ya soon. :) xo

Current Makeup Kick!

So for the past 8 or so years, I've been most comfortable with wearing thick winged eyeliner, and an "ombre" effect of eyeshadows. Lightest in the inner corner, medium shades on majority of the lid, and darkest in the crease.

Recently I was working on one of my special effects looks, and I did an entirely black smokey eye (no liquid liner) with dramatic false lashes. I've never been a huge fan of a dark smokey eye on myself, so I was surprised at how much I was loving this eyeliner-less look.

I've been trying to branch out as far as how I apply and wear my makeup lately, so this is something I'd like to try out more often. Maybe this year I'll go for less eyeliner, and more creativity!

List of products used:

  • Urban Decay Naked 3 - Blackheart on lid, and lower lash line
  • MAC Vanilla Pigment on inner corner
  • Cheap Dramatic 1$ lashes
  • Makeup Forever black lipstick

My First Blog Post!

Hi y'all! I've decided to start a blog for all of my thoughts regarding beauty, fashion, design and just life in general! Bear with me, as I am new to this site and I'm not quite sure how to run it smoothly just yet, but I promise I'll get there eventually!

As a bit of an intro....
My name is Jaimee. :) I'm a 20 year old college student, studying liberal arts, and beauty/makeup. I work in an office by day, and by night I'm a sfx makeup artist. Love for all things history, horror, beauty, antique, taxidermy and "odd". Born and raised on Long Island, NY. My interests vary quite a bit, but I will mostly be posting about my love for fashion, makeup, and interior design!

As this blog grows, I hope to be able to express my passion for these things, and hopefully inspire others in the process!

Let's see how this goes!! xo :)
